CNN is Fake News

(and we can prove it)

An Editor’s Memo 02/19/2017

At best, CNN didn’t do their jobs. At worst – they deliberately misled the public to create a panic about flying. You be the judge. Here are the facts.

What is fake news? CNN’s own Don Lemon recently walked off his set in utter anguish after trying to define what fake news was only to be accused again by one of his guests. This incident was all over the Internet and Twitter feeds went ballistic. (Click here for the story and video)

According to Lemon, “Fake News is when you put out a story to intentionally deceive someone and you know that it is wrong. I don’t know anyone who has put out a story in the main stream media that I can think of right now to intentionally deceive anyone.”

Well, Mr. Lemon, here’s Exhibit A from your own network:

On 1/31/17 CNN misled the public with a story about aviation, and we can prove that it was fake. Nick Valencia is a CNN correspondent who was interviewed as an “EXPERT WITNESS” and did a story on the air traffic control in New York City. The anchors along with Valencia intentionally misled their audience to make it sound like two planes were about to collide in New York’s busy airspace. Sounds scary, right? Except it NEVER happened. What was their “evidence” of a “near collision”? They grabbed an audio recording available from a public website that pilots and enthusiasts use called LIVEATC.NET.

In the audio of the conversation they explained that a “*Long Beep*” was an alert system that told “everyone” that the planes were about to collide. Any pilot knows that this “long beep” is simply two people trying to talk over the radio frequency at the same time. In New York City, this happens all the time – because it’s busy! It’s not a big deal. (Click here for the story and video)

If CNN would have spoken to ANY pilot, they would have gotten accurate information. If we give CNN the benefit of the doubt, and we assume this was an honest mistake, then, they didn’t do their job and check the facts. And these facts would have been easy to check, because EVERY pilot knows this – there’s not even a need to inquire from the FAA.

If we think that it’s unlikely that CNN doesn’t check facts, then we have to face the reality that this is fake news created “intentionally” (thanks, Don Lemon) for ratings purposes.

So here’s our point: If ANY pilot can prove that this was an intentional mislead of the flying public, how can we trust CNN with information that we can’t verify?
