The Left Continues to Bash Trump, Even as This Year’s Oscar Ratings Fall
BY TOM SOLID, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR @TomSolid1 3/6/2018
This year’s Oscars was full of political commentary, Trump Bashing, and enforcement of new “norms.” Surprisingly, there were only six anti-Trump comments as opposed to 15 last year. I guess they realized that no one wanted to be lectured on political agenda and how horrible they were for joining the NRA.
It looks like it’s unfortunately (or fortunately) too late for the Oscars, as Variety.com reports Oscars Hit New Viewership Low With 26.5 Million. That’s a 16% decrease in viewers this year, and I think we all know why. Personally watching the Oscars, I knew half of the movies nominated and was disgusted by the horrible writing in general, aside from the political aspect of the show. The political side, however, was intolerable for me.
Jimmy Kimmel, in my honest opinion, has lost his comedic touch. His relevance in late night programming (and the reason he still has a job) is based on political commentary that no one asked for. Again, no one watches late night to hear how dumb the Republicans are, and the reason why all gun owners are sick, twisted people. They’re there to be entertained, and I don’t know how Kimmel does that. I mean, look at his jokes for the night. (credit to Breitbart for compiling the list)
“The stunning Lupita Nyong’o. She was born in Mexico and raised in Kenya. Let the tweetstorm from the president’s toilet begin.”
“We don’t make films like ‘Call Me by Your Name’ for money. We make them to upset Mike Pence.”
“None other than President Trump called Get Out the best first three-quarters of a movie he’s seen this year.”
“If the last two years have taught us anything, it’s that reality can be depressing, but tonight’s nominated documentaries show us where there is darkness, there is also hope, except at the White House. Hope Hicks quit on Wednesday.”
“Well, now at least we know Putin didn’t rig this competition, right?”
These jokes alone are the reason that nobody wants to touch the Oscars anymore. It has all become another vessel for the left’s constant flow of propaganda and hate towards the right, and they’re tanking because of it. This is the American people acting against the closed minded agenda of the left, and its working.
